Leeds United have officially confirmed the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri from Lyon. The 27-year-old joins the newly-promoted Premier League side on a four-year deal, becoming their seventh summer signing. The transfer fee is reported to be €16 million, with a potential €2 million in add-ons.

Perri's arrival is expected to bolster Leeds United's goalkeeping options ahead of their return to the Premier League. The club took their time in identifying the right goalkeeper to become their number one, and ultimately settled on Perri, with his height and throwing ability seen as valuable assets. Leeds United's official statement expressed delight in securing Perri's signature and stated that they are looking forward to seeing him in action.

Prior to joining Leeds, Perri played for Lyon, where he made 45 appearances across all competitions and kept 13 clean sheets. He also has experience in the UEFA Europa League, playing a key role in Lyon's journey to the quarter-finals last season. Before moving to Europe, Perri played in Brazil for São Paulo and Botafogo.

Perri has represented Brazil at the U20 and U23 levels and received his first call-up to the senior squad in September 2023.

Leeds United have been active in the transfer market this summer, with Perri becoming their seventh signing. Other new arrivals include Anton Stach, Jaka Bijol, Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Lukas Nmecha. The club's spending is estimated to be around £75 million, demonstrating their ambition to strengthen the squad for their Premier League return.

Perri's arrival has been welcomed by his new teammates, with Gabriel Gudmundsson, who has faced Perri in Ligue 1, praising him as a top goalkeeper.

The signing of Perri represents a significant investment for Leeds United, as he becomes the most expensive goalkeeper in the club's history. The club's willingness to invest in quality players from top European leagues highlights their commitment to building a competitive squad.
