The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), officially began on August 2, 2025, after being postponed from its original February 2025 schedule. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) made the decision to delay the tournament by eight months due to infrastructure inadequacies, affecting stadiums, training facilities, and hospitals in the host countries.

This year's edition marks a historic moment as the first to be co-hosted by three nations: Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Nineteen teams are participating, making it the largest CHAN tournament to date. The tournament is unique as it exclusively features players who are actively playing in their respective national leagues.

The opening ceremony was held at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The final match is scheduled to take place at the Moi International Sports Center in Nairobi, Kenya. Kampala, Uganda, will host the third-place playoff at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium. In addition to these main venues, matches are being held in Zanzibar City, Tanzania.
