The fifth and final Test of the series between India and England at The Oval is on a knife's edge, with England needing just 35 runs to win and India requiring four wickets to level the series. Rain and bad light brought a premature end to Day 4, leaving the match hanging in the balance.

England closed Day 4 at 339 for six, chasing a target of 374. Joe Root (105) and Harry Brook (111) had earlier seized control with a 195-run partnership. However, India fought back, with Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj taking crucial wickets. The old ball began to move, and England added only 22 runs in the final session. Jamie Overton and Jamie Smith are at the crease, with the new ball due.

The weather forecast for Day 5 predicts clear skies for the morning session, raising hopes for a decisive result. However, there is a chance of rain in the afternoon.

India's comeback on Day 4 was led by Prasidh Krishna, who took three wickets, and Mohammed Siraj, who took two. After Akash Deep dismissed Harry Brook, Krishna took the wickets of Jacob Bethell and Joe Root.

Captain Shubman Gill was heard on the stump mic urging Akash Deep to bowl his natural length. Ravichandran Ashwin has criticized Shubman Gill and Gautam Gambhir for a lack of game awareness. Ashwin felt that the spinners were not used effectively and pointed to tactical shortcomings. He believes Gill will improve as captain.

England had gained an advantage after a stunning attack from Harry Brook (111), who built a 195-run stand with Joe Root (105). However, two late wickets in the final session allowed India to claw back into the match.

India is hoping for a miracle as England needs only 35 runs to win. India will be hoping that the darker clouds and overcast conditions arrive as soon as possible because Jamie Smith has the ability to wrap things up quickly.

The match is set for a thrilling finish, with both teams still in the game and the series on the line.
