Shubman Gill's Test jersey, worn during the Lord's Test against England, has been auctioned for a remarkable ₹5.41 lakh. The jersey was sold at the Budds auction, as part of former England cricketer Andrew Strauss' foundation, Red Ruth Charity. Gill's jersey fetched the highest amount among all memorabilia, including signed jerseys and caps from both teams.

The auctioned jersey is a special edition, bearing the official India Test crest and displaying visible signs of match wear, including staining and remaining unwashed. The description on the auction website highlighted Gill's graceful stroke play and calm temperament, describing the shirt as a rare collector's item from a memorable day at the Home of Cricket.

Following Gill's jersey, the jerseys of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja jointly secured the second-highest bid at approximately ₹4.94 lakhs. Jadeja notably scored over 500 runs in the series. KL Rahul's jersey followed closely, fetching around ₹4.70 lakhs. Among the England team, Joe Root's jersey achieved the highest bid at approximately ₹4.47 lakhs.

The Red Ruth Foundation dedicates one day of the Lord's Test each year to Andrew Strauss' late wife, Ruth, who passed away from cancer. In tribute, cricketers, broadcasters, and fans wear red clothing. The foundation raises money through auctions to support cancer patients.

Shubman Gill had a memorable campaign at the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He not only scored a record 754 runs in the five Tests but also ensured that his debut series as India Test captain would be remembered as one of the most fiercely contested five-match contests.

Besides the jerseys, signed caps were also auctioned. Joe Root's signed caps were sold for approximately ₹3.52 lakhs, while Rishabh Pant's cap earned the highest bid for India at around ₹1.76 lakhs. A print of Sacha Jafri's canvas painting of the 2019 World Cup-winning moment fetched the highest overall bid at ₹5.88 lakhs.
