Miami University's RedHawks hockey program has a rich history of developing talented players who have gone on to achieve success in the National Hockey League (NHL). Over the past 47 years, a number of RedHawks alumni have reached the pinnacle of the sport, hoisting the Stanley Cup. Here's a look at six former Miami RedHawks players who have won hockey's ultimate prize:

Dan Boyle

Dan Boyle, a standout two-way defenseman, won his Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004. Known for his puck-moving ability and power-play game, Boyle played more than 1,000 NHL games and also won Olympic gold with Team Canada in 2010. During his time at Miami University from 1994 to 1998, Boyle served as an alternate captain in his final season and amassed 147 points in 148 NCAA games. He earned NCAA (CCHA) All-Rookie Team honors in 1994-95 and was a two-time NCAA (West) First All-American Team selection in 1996-97 and 1997-98. In his junior year, Boyle was also named the CCHA's Best Offensive Defenseman and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey's top player. Boyle's NHL career included stints with the Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks, and New York Rangers. He retired after the 2015-2016 season as a Ranger, capping off a great career.

Blake Coleman

Blake Coleman is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning back-to-back titles with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021. During the 2020 playoff run, he led all players in hits with 126. Coleman also captured a bronze medal with Team USA at the 2018 IIHF World Championship. As of 2024, Coleman is entering his fourth season with the Calgary Flames. During his time at Miami, Coleman was a standout player, leading the Red and White with 37 points in his final season.

Alec Martinez

Defenseman Alec Martinez is a three-time Stanley Cup champion. He won two Stanley Cups with the Los Angeles Kings in 2012 and 2014, and then again with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023. As of July 2024, Martinez joined the Chicago Blackhawks. Martinez had 17 points (4 goals, 13 assists) in 55 appearances for the Golden Knights in the 2023-24 season.

Reilly Smith

Reilly Smith, currently with the Vegas Golden Knights, won the Stanley Cup in 2023. Through 1,036 career NHL games, Smith has totaled 636 points over 15 seasons and holds the record for the most playoff points (83) of any former RedHawk after the 2025 postseason. Smith is still active and will be with Vegas for the 2025-26 season after signing a one-year, $2 million contract this offseason. Smith is tied for ninth on Miami's all-time goals leaderboard with 66 goals.

Kevyn Adams

Kevyn Adams won the Stanley Cup in 2006 with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Andrew "Andy" Greene

Andrew "Andy" Greene won the Stanley Cup in 2009 with the New Jersey Devils.

These six players represent the pinnacle of achievement for Miami RedHawks hockey alumni. Their success in the NHL is a testament to the quality of the Miami hockey program and the dedication of its players and coaches. As of the 2024-25 NHL season, six former Miami players were on opening-night rosters, including Blake Coleman, Sean Kuraly, Alec Martinez, Jack Roslovic, Kiefer Sherwood, and Reilly Smith, continuing the strong RedHawk presence in the NHL.
