Amidst speculation linking Savinho with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed his desire to retain the Brazilian forward for the foreseeable future. While acknowledging the ultimate decision rests with the player, Guardiola has made it clear he values the 21-year-old's potential and contribution to the team.

Tottenham's interest in Savinho comes as they seek to bolster their attacking options following the departure of Son Heung-min and an injury to James Maddison. Reports suggest that Spurs have already initiated talks with Manchester City regarding a potential deal.

Savinho joined Manchester City last summer and made 48 appearances in his debut season, scoring three goals and providing 13 assists. Despite facing criticism for inconsistent end product, Guardiola seems to see immense potential in the young winger.

Guardiola emphasized Savinho's value to Manchester City, highlighting his extensive playing time last season and the need for improvement in decision-making. He stated that he wants Savinho to stay at Manchester City for "many years” to come. He also added that any club interested in acquiring Savinho should contact Man City.

However, Guardiola also reiterated his stance on player departures, stating that he would not stand in the way of players who express a desire to leave. He clarified that neither Savinho nor goalkeeper Ederson, who has been linked with a move to Turkey, have communicated their wish to leave the club. He said that if they want to leave, they will come to him. Ultimately, the decision hinges on an agreement between the player and the club, with Guardiola respecting the player's desires above all else.

Savinho will miss Manchester City's Premier League opener against Wolves due to an injury sustained in a pre-season friendly. The injury is expected to sideline him for a few weeks, also ruling him out of the game against Tottenham.

Tottenham's pursuit of Savinho underscores their need to strengthen their attacking force, particularly with key players missing. The club has already added Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha to their squad but may need further reinforcements to compete effectively in the Premier League and Champions League.

The situation remains fluid, with Savinho's future hanging in the balance. While Guardiola's preference is to keep the young Brazilian at Manchester City, the player's own aspirations and any potential agreement with Tottenham will ultimately determine the outcome.
