The summer of 2025 continues to deliver major headlines as Marcus Rashford made his debut for Barcelona and Harry Kane finally secured silverware in Germany.

Rashford's Barcelona Debut

After weeks of speculation and a season-long loan move from Manchester United, Marcus Rashford has officially joined Barcelona. The transfer was almost derailed by Barcelona's financial issues, which threatened to prevent the club from registering Rashford in time for the new season. Barcelona's board of directors even risked their own finances to provide a bank guarantee to ensure the registration of new players. Ultimately, the issues were resolved, and Rashford was registered just hours before Barcelona's La Liga opener against Mallorca.

Rashford started on the bench, with manager Hansi Flick opting for Lamine Yamal and Raphinha on the wings and Ferran Torres as the central striker. Barcelona cruised to a 3-0 victory over Mallorca. Raphinha opened the scoring early, followed by a controversial goal from Torres. Youngster Yamal added a third goal to seal the win. Rashford was subbed in for Torres in the 68th minute, playing on the left side of the attack. In his 22 minutes on the pitch, Rashford had 14 touches and a 91% pass accuracy, including two key passes. While he didn't score, Rashford showed promising signs of combining well with his new teammates.

Despite the win, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was not completely satisfied with the team's performance. Barcelona fans have welcomed Rashford, with one young fan holding up a copy of Rashford's book as he entered the pitch. Rashford himself has expressed excitement about playing alongside talents like Pedri and Yamal.

Rashford's debut marks a new chapter in his career, and all eyes will be on him as he looks to make an impact in La Liga. Barcelona will face Levante next, and Rashford will likely get more opportunities to prove himself.

Kane Lifts Silverware with Bayern Munich

Harry Kane has finally broken his trophy drought, securing the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup with Bayern Munich. Bayern defeated Stuttgart 2-1 in the Supercup, with Kane and Luis Diaz scoring the goals. Kane scored in the 18th minute, marking his first Supercup appearance with a goal. Diaz, a former Liverpool winger, secured the win with a header in the 77th minute. Stuttgart scored a consolation goal in stoppage time, but Bayern held on to win.

This Supercup victory marks Kane's second major trophy, adding to the Bundesliga title he won with Bayern last season. He was also named Bundesliga Player of the Season. Kane's contribution to Bayern has been significant, as he finished as the league's top scorer with 25 goals. He is only the fifth English player to win the German top prize.

Kane's arrival at Bayern Munich has brought him the team success that eluded him during his time with Tottenham. With the Supercup in hand, Kane and Bayern will focus on defending their Bundesliga title and competing for the Champions League.
