Jimmy Spratt is set to make a return to Miami University as the Assistant to the Head Coach for the RedHawks hockey team. Head coach Anthony Noreen announced the addition in August 2025, marking Spratt's second stint with the program. He previously served as the team's director of hockey operations from 2019 to 2022.

Spratt's coaching journey has taken him through various leagues and universities. Before rejoining Miami, he was an assistant coach with the USHL's Fargo Force last season. In Fargo, his responsibilities included coaching the goalies, working with the defense, overseeing the penalty kill, assisting with team drafts, and contributing to off-ice operations. The 2023-24 season saw him as an assistant at Northern Michigan University, where he coached the Wildcat goalies and assisted with recruiting and other coaching duties. Prior to that, he spent a year with the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) as an assistant and goalie coach, helping them secure home-ice advantage in the playoffs. During his time with the Gamblers, he mentored Kris Eberly, who achieved the second-most wins in the league, and contributed to the team's power play, which had a 22.9% success rate.

During his first stint with the RedHawks, Spratt managed team travel plans and video analysis, and also served as a resource for the team's goaltenders. His contributions were recognized when former RedHawk goalie Ludvig Persson was named to the NCHC All-Conference Second Team and the NCHC All-Rookie Team in 2020-21, as well as the CHN All-Rookie Team.

Spratt is enthusiastic about his return to Miami, noting the potential he sees in the program. He is eager to work alongside Anthony Noreen and the other coaches, and appreciates the opportunity to be part of a program with so much promise for the future.

Before his initial time at Miami, Spratt spent five seasons at his alma mater, Bowling Green State University, as the Director of Hockey Operations. As a former goaltender for the Falcons from 2005 to 2009, he played over 5,500 minutes, recording a 3.45 goals-against average and 2,441 saves in 100 appearances. He also tied the record for the most shutouts in a single season for a Falcon goaltender with three.

Spratt's playing career also includes three seasons in the USHL with the Sioux City Musketeers, where he had a record of 49-23-10 in 94 appearances. After graduating from Bowling Green State University with a degree in sport management in 2009, he played professionally for four seasons in the ECHL, with teams such as the Toledo Walleye, Las Vegas Wranglers, and Idaho Steelheads. He also played in the AHL for the Texas Stars in 2011-12.
