Ella Shelton's 2024-25 season with the New York Sirens was a standout performance, solidifying her reputation as one of the premier defenders in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Born on January 19, 1998, the Ingersoll, Ontario native brought a wealth of experience and skill to the Sirens' blueline.

This output made her the leading goal-scorer among all defenders in the league. The Sirens received the third and 27th overall picks in the 2025 PWHL Draft in exchange for Shelton. With the third overall pick, New York selected Casey O'Brien, a forward from the University of Wisconsin, and with the 27th pick, they chose Maddi Wheeler, a forward from Ohio State.
