The Bundesliga witnessed a thrilling start to the 2025/26 season, with unexpected twists and turns in the opening matches. Borussia Dortmund stumbled to a draw against St. Pauli, while Eintracht Frankfurt secured a convincing victory over Werder Bremen.

Dortmund's Decade-Long Record Vanishes Borussia Dortmund began their Bundesliga season in frustrating fashion, squandering a 3-1 lead away to FC St. Pauli and drawing 3-3. Dortmund were made to pay for a glut of missed opportunities. The result also saw Dortmund fail to win their first game of a new Bundesliga season for the first time in 10 years. The atmosphere at the Millerntor-Stadion was electric as the game got underway. St. Pauli could have opened the scoring early on, but Dortmund's goalkeeper made a crucial save. Dortmund took the lead in the 34th minute through Serhou Guirassy's header after a cross from Marcel Sabitzer. Guirassy had a chance to double the lead from the penalty spot, but St. Pauli's keeper made a fine save.

St. Pauli equalized early in the second half with a header from Andreas Hountondji. Dortmund regained the lead through a deflected strike from Waldemar Anton and extended it further with a goal from Julian Brandt. However, St. Pauli fought back, and were awarded a penalty after a foul by Filippo Mane, who received a red card. Danel Sinani converted the penalty, and St. Pauli captain Eric Smith scored a late equalizer to secure a point for his team.

Uzun and Bahoya shine as Eintracht crush Werder Eintracht Frankfurt got off to a flying start in the new Bundesliga season, securing a comfortable 4-1 home win over Werder Bremen. Can Uzun and Jean-Matteo Bahoya were instrumental in Eintracht's victory. Uzun scored the opening goal in the 21st minute with a powerful strike. Three minutes later, Uzun assisted Bahoya, who headed past the Werder Bremen goalkeeper. Just after the break, Uzun and Bahoya combined again for Eintracht's third goal. Werder Bremen responded with a goal from Justin Njinmah, but Frankfurt sealed the win with a goal from Ansgar Knauff. Eintracht Frankfurt have won 16 direct matches against Werder Bremen, who have also won 16 matches, with 11 matches ending in a draw.
