Nottingham Forest are reportedly in discussions to sign Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Fenerbahce. Forest's head coach, Nuno Espírito Santo, is pushing for the acquisition of a new goalkeeper to compete with current first-choice keeper Matz Sels.

Livakovic, who currently plays for Süper Lig club Fenerbahçe, has a wealth of experience. The 30-year-old has been capped 66 times for the Croatia national team. He joined Fenerbahçe on August 25, 2023, for a fee of €6.65 million, signing a 5-year contract.

Prior to his move to Turkey, Livakovic played for Dinamo Zagreb from 2016 to 2023, making 207 appearances. Before that, he played for NK Zagreb, with 104 appearances between 2012 and 2016.

Livakovic's performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar brought him international recognition. He was named Man of the Match in the round of 16 against Japan after saving three penalties in the shootout. He also saved a penalty against Brazil in the quarter-finals and was awarded Man of the Match again for his 11 saves during the game. His outstanding performance against Brazil earned him a 10/10 rating from L'Équipe, a rare honor in the magazine's history.

This isn't the first time Nottingham Forest has been linked with Livakovic. In the past, Forest reportedly considered signing him but opted for a "more high-profile player" in Dean Henderson.

Forest's current goalkeeping situation necessitates the potential signing. With Carlos Miguel and Wayne Hennessey having departed, and only Angus Gunn having arrived on a free transfer, the club needs depth and competition in the goalkeeping position. Dean Henderson, who was heavily relied upon, has been dealing with injuries.

Livakovic's potential arrival would provide that competition and experience. He has played in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa Conference League.

The transfer window is set to close soon, so Forest will need to act quickly if they want to secure Livakovic's signature.
