As Newcastle United prepares to face Liverpool in a fiery Premier League clash, the future of star striker Alexander Isak has become a major talking point. Amidst swirling rumors linking Isak with a move to the Premier League champions, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has addressed the situation, attempting to reassure fans while also acknowledging the challenges it presents.

Howe has directly addressed the speculation surrounding Isak's future, particularly the rumors of a potential transfer to Liverpool. While acknowledging the situation is "far from ideal," Howe maintains hope that Isak could still play for Newcastle again. However, Isak has expressed his discontent with Newcastle, stating that their relationship "can't continue" and that a change would be in everyone's best interest. He accused the club of breaking promises regarding his future. Newcastle refuted Isak's claims, insisting that no promises were made about allowing him to leave. They also stated that they "do not foresee" selling him unless their valuation is met and an adequate replacement is found.

Newcastle has reportedly placed a £150 million valuation on Isak, and Liverpool's initial offer of £110 million was rejected. The club has been searching for a replacement, but attempts to sign players like Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko were unsuccessful. Howe has assured fans that the club will not allow Isak to leave without a replacement being secured. He emphasized that Newcastle cannot afford to go through the season without a recognized striker with Premier League experience.

Isak will not be available for the game against Liverpool. He was absent from the previous match against Aston Villa and is currently training away from the main squad. Howe has conceded that replacing Isak is a difficult task. In Isak's absence, Anthony Gordon has been playing as a makeshift striker. Howe has praised Gordon's versatility and believes he has the qualities to be a threat in that position. However, he acknowledged that Gordon is not trying to be Isak and needs to focus on being himself.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Isak's future, Howe is focused on the upcoming match against Liverpool. He recognizes the importance of having a recognized striker but is confident in the team's ability to perform, even without Isak. The transfer window closes on September 1st, so the situation surrounding Isak's future is expected to be resolved soon. Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol suggests Isak could sign a new contract with Newcastle if the Liverpool move doesn't happen.
