Oliver Moore is poised to be an exciting player to watch for the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2025-26 season. Selected 19th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, Moore signed his entry-level contract with the Blackhawks in March 2025 after a successful stint at the University of Minnesota. The contract runs through the 2026-27 season and carries a $941,667 cap hit.

Moore, a natural center, brings a dynamic skillset to the Blackhawks organization. At 5-foot-11 and 188 pounds, he is known for his exceptional speed and compete level. Blackhawks management believes his game is built on these attributes, which were evident during his time in Minnesota and in his brief appearances with Chicago.

In his sophomore season at the University of Minnesota, Moore posted 12 goals and 21 assists in 38 games. He also made his NHL debut in late March, playing nine games with the Blackhawks and recording four assists. While his offensive numbers may not have been eye-popping, his speed and skating ability were noticeable.

Entering the 2025-26 season, there is anticipation surrounding Moore's potential role with the Blackhawks. Some project him to split time between the NHL and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, allowing him to adjust to the professional game. Others suggest he could earn a roster spot out of training camp, especially given his potential to complement players like Frank Nazar or Connor Bedard. A projected lineup even has Moore centering the third line with Tyler Bertuzzi and Ilya Mikheyev.

Blackhawks fans should be eager to see Moore make his mark. He possesses the speed and skill to become a top-six forward in the future. However, he will need to earn his place, especially with the additions made by General Manager Kyle Davidson. Moore is in a similar situation to Frank Nazar last season, where he will have to prove himself to secure a consistent role.

Moore himself is motivated to take the next step in his career. He found his first taste of the NHL to be invaluable, providing him with experience and comfort within the Blackhawks organization. He also won back-to-back gold medals with Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Championships (2024, 2025).

While some other young forwards on the roster might be overshadowing him, Moore remains an exciting prospect. His development will be key to the Blackhawks' rebuild.
