Australian Trio: Head, Marsh, and Green Ascend in Latest ODI Batting Rankings After Strong Performances.

Australian cricketers Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Cameron Green have all experienced a boost in their rankings in the latest ICC Men's ODI Player Rankings. The updated rankings were released on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, and reflect their strong performances in the third and final ODI against South Africa.

The series against South Africa saw Australia suffer a 2-1 defeat on home soil; however, individual performances were duly noted in the updated rankings. In that final match, Australia amassed an impressive 431/2 in their 50 overs. Head scored 142, Marsh contributed 100, and Green remained unbeaten with 118*.

Specifically, Travis Head has moved up one place to joint 11th in the rankings. Mitchell Marsh has made a leap of four positions to reach 44th place. Cameron Green's impressive performance has resulted in a significant jump of 40 places, putting him in 78th position. Another Australian, Josh Inglis, also saw his ranking improve, climbing 23 spots to 64th after his score of 87 in the second ODI against South Africa.

In the overall ODI batting rankings, Shubman Gill of India holds the top spot with 784 rating points. Rohit Sharma, also from India, is in second place with 756 points, while Pakistan's Babar Azam is third with 739 points. Rounding out the top five are Virat Kohli of India (736 points) and Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand (720 points).

In the ODI bowling rankings, Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana has joined South Africa's Keshav Maharaj at the top, with both having 671 rating points. South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has also seen a significant improvement, rising six places to 28th after taking seven wickets in the series against Australia. Australians Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis have also moved up the rankings after their performances against South Africa.
