Alejandro Garnacho's Shocking Move: Chelsea Secures Man United Winger for £40m in Stunning Transfer.

After a period of speculation, Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly on the verge of sealing a move away from Manchester United, with Chelsea agreeing to a fee in the region of £40 million. The Argentinian winger has supposedly fallen out of favor with United's manager, Ruben Amorim, making an exit seem increasingly likely.

Chelsea's interest in Garnacho dates back to the January transfer window, with the club now confident they can get his career back on track. Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea head coach, is said to want plenty of depth in attack and sees Garnacho as a priority. The Blues are looking to add another right-footed left winger to compete with Jamie Gittens. To that end, Chelsea have already signed Liam Delap, João Pedro, Gittens and Estêvão Willian. It is understood that Garnacho has already agreed to personal terms with Chelsea.

Manchester United initially hoped to receive around £50 million for the 21-year-old, but are now ready to accept a compromise between £35 million and £40 million. The anticipated transfer fee will help offset some of United's summer spending, which has seen Amorim bring in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko. United are also interested in Senne Lammens.

Garnacho joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for a reported £420,000. He went on to score 26 goals in 144 appearances for the club, including a goal in the 2024 FA Cup final victory against Manchester City. However, his relationship with Amorim reportedly deteriorated after he was left as a substitute in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.

Chelsea are looking to balance their books to comply with UEFA's settlement agreement, which requires them to maintain a "positive transfer balance" to register new players for the Champions League. To that end, Chelsea are reportedly working on a deal to sell Christopher Nkunku to AC Milan, which would help fund the Garnacho move. They are also close to sending Nicolas Jackson on loan to Bayern Munich with an obligation to buy. Chelsea are also trying to offload Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana.

Garnacho will become the third winger to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer, along with Gittens and Willian. He effectively replaces Jadon Sancho, who Chelsea chose not to buy after his loan spell.

Garnacho could be followed out of Old Trafford by striker Rasmus Hojlund, with United reportedly working on a deal for him to join Napoli.
