Arne Slot has cautioned Liverpool against dwelling on last season's Premier League title victory, emphasizing the need for change and a forward-looking approach. Speaking ahead of Liverpool's Premier League match against Arsenal, Slot stressed that the title win was not as straightforward as it may have appeared, but rather "a hard slog that necessitated a change in style".

Slot, who took over from Jürgen Klopp, is already implementing changes at Liverpool, both on and off the pitch. One of the first adjustments he made was to the daily schedule, shifting the start time to 9:15 AM to maximize productivity. This change reflects Slot's meticulous attention to detail and his relentless work ethic.

Tactically, Slot is also making his mark. He has shifted Liverpool's traditional 4-3-3 formation to a more controlled 4-2-3-1 setup. The goal is to maintain possession and dictate the tempo of matches, a subtle but significant shift from Klopp's philosophy, which prioritized immediate counter-attacks. Slot encourages his players to "kill them with the ball," emphasizing control and precision. One notable change has been the role of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has transitioned between right-back and midfield during matches. Andy Robertson has been appointed as Liverpool's new vice-captain by Arne Slot.

Slot has also highlighted the importance of continuous improvement within the squad. He pointed to Federico Chiesa's impact against Bournemouth and Rio Ngumoha's winning goal against Newcastle as examples of players making a difference. Despite Liverpool's significant spending in the transfer window, Slot emphasized that there is still room for young talents like Ngumoha to showcase their qualities.

Liverpool have been active in the transfer market, with arrivals such as Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong. The club is also reportedly interested in Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi. Slot has confirmed that he is open to making further signings before the transfer window closes, but only if it strengthens the squad for the right money and with the right player. However, the Liverpool boss and Newcastle's Eddie Howe are remaining tight-lipped regarding Isak's future.

Slot's emphasis on change extends to individual player development. He noted that Luis Diaz has made a big impact, particularly in build-up play and scoring, but also stated that he expects Diaz to improve his match fitness and his contribution without the ball. Slot believes that Diaz can adjust to the new league and style, especially regarding pressing, as Frankfurt did not press as much as Liverpool.

The focus on improvement also applies to young players like Stefan Bajcetic, whose career has been disrupted by injuries. Slot values midfielders who are tall, industrious, and capable of transitioning quickly through the thirds, a profile that Bajcetic fits when fit. Slot is giving Bajcetic a fresh opportunity to impress in training and potentially reclaim his place in the squad.

Overall, Arne Slot's message is clear: Liverpool must evolve and not rest on their laurels. By implementing tactical changes, focusing on player development, and being strategic in the transfer market, Slot aims to build on last season's success and ensure Liverpool remains a competitive force.
