Manchester United have finalized the permanent transfer of Antony to Real Betis and have sent Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli on loan for the 2025/26 season. These moves mark a significant overhaul of the attacking options at Old Trafford under the management of Ruben Amorim.

Antony's Permanent Move to Real Betis

After a challenging period at Manchester United, Antony is set to return to Real Betis, where he previously had a successful loan spell. The deal is structured as a permanent transfer, with Real Betis paying a fixed fee of €22 million (£19 million), with a potential €3 million (£2.6 million) in add-ons.

Manchester United will also retain a 50% sell-on clause for any profit Real Betis makes on a future transfer of Antony. This clause ensures that United will benefit financially if Antony performs well and is sold for a higher price in the future.

Antony's move comes after he struggled to find consistent form at Manchester United, managing just 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances. The Brazilian winger expressed his desire to return to Real Betis, where he felt he could rediscover his form and confidence.

Rasmus Hojlund's Loan Move to Napoli

Rasmus Hojlund has joined Napoli on a season-long loan, with the Italian club having an obligation to buy him. United will receive a €6 million (£5.2 million) loan fee for Hojlund. If certain conditions are met, Napoli will be obligated to buy Hojlund for €44 million (£38 million) next summer.

Hojlund's move comes after the arrival of Benjamin Sesko at Manchester United, which reduced his playing time opportunities. Despite expressing his desire to fight for his place, it became clear that Amorim did not have him in his plans.

Manchester United's Transfer Deadline Day Activity

These moves are part of a busy transfer deadline day for Manchester United, with the club aiming to finalize multiple deals before the window closes. In addition to Antony and Hojlund, Jadon Sancho is also close to a loan move to Aston Villa. Furthermore, goalkeeper Senne Lammens is set to join Manchester United from Royal Antwerp in a £18.2 million deal.

Financial Implications

Manchester United will make a significant loss on Antony, who was signed from Ajax for an initial £81.3 million in 2022. However, the sale of Antony, along with the potential permanent transfer of Hojlund and the sale of Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea for £40 million, could see United raise around £100 million.

The club's activity in the transfer market is aimed at reshaping the squad under Ruben Amorim and complying with Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
