As the summer transfer window approached its 7 PM BST deadline on September 1, 2025, Manchester United finalized several deals, both incoming and outgoing, marking a flurry of activity at Old Trafford.

Several players have departed Manchester United this summer as the club has undergone a big change. Eight players had already departed Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on loan, and Alejandro Garnacho made a permanent switch to Chelsea. Several players have left via loan including Ethan Wheatley who joined Northampton Town.

Among the confirmed departures are Antony, who is set to re-join Real Betis on a permanent basis for £21.65 million. United signed Antony exactly three years ago from Ajax for a fee rising to £86.3m. Rasmus Hojlund has completed his move to Napoli on a season-long loan deal, with the Italian champions obliged to buy the Denmark international next year. Jadon Sancho is close to moving to Aston Villa on a season-long loan, his third loan spell during his United career. Villa will cover 80% of Sancho's salary, and achievable bonuses have been included into the deal. Sancho, 25, is out of contract at United in 2026 and is likely to be released.

Another potential outgoing transfer that has collapsed is Tyrell Malacia's move to La Liga side Elche on an initial loan move. Discussions reportedly broke down over the inclusion of a clause to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. With the English transfer window closing, Malacia may need to consider a move to the Middle East, as the Saudi market remains open until September 10.

On the incoming side, Manchester United are closing in on the signing of 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for £18.2 million. Lammens has agreed to a five-year contract at Old Trafford. United view the 23-year-old as a promising young keeper with a bright future ahead of him. Lammens was signed two years ago from Club Brugge and any sale would represent nearly 100 per cent profit for the Belgian club. He made 30 appearances in the Belgian Pro League last season for Antwerp, keeping seven clean sheets. It is understood that if a suitable offer were to come in for their other 'keepers, it would be considered.

The club has already completed deals for Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Šeško, along with promising young defender Diego Leon.

Despite earlier reports of Kobbie Mainoo requesting a loan move, Manchester United have reportedly decided against allowing him to leave.

With the transfer window now closed for Premier League clubs, Manchester United will look to integrate their new signings and focus on the season ahead. However, they can still offload unwanted players to overseas sides.
