The Carolina Hurricanes have officially unveiled their new road jerseys for the 2025-26 season. The team teased the announcement over the past couple of weeks before revealing the new look on social media. These jerseys will replace the white sweaters the team has worn for the last six seasons.
The design is inspired by the jersey the team wore in its 2023 Stadium Series game. However, unlike the Stadium Series jersey, which featured black as the predominant color, the new road jersey has a white chest and torso. The sleeves and pants feature the team's traditional red color. Black and white stripes adorn the forearms, while red and black blocks complement the white socks.
The jersey incorporates the team's traditional logo, stylized in entirely red and black without any white, similar to the Stadium Series jersey. The sleeves feature a red block and a black block with no intervening white. The font for the numbers on the arms is black, while it is red for the nameplate and numbers on the back of the jersey.
Unique shoulder patches add distinctive details to the jersey. One shoulder patch features the North Carolina state flag in the Hurricanes' color scheme. The other shoulder patch displays the team's mascot, Stormy, reimagined as a vintage-style collegiate logo, a nod to the Triangle region's deep ties to college athletics.
The new away jerseys and related merchandise are available for purchase at CarolinaProShop.com. The Hurricanes are scheduled to begin their season with a pair of home games, with the new jerseys making their regular-season debut against the San Jose Sharks on October 14.
The Hurricanes enter the 2025-2026 season looking to rebound after a disappointing end to the previous season, which saw an earlier-than-expected exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the loss of superstar forward Mikko Rantanen. The team aims to represent the franchise effectively both on and off the ice.
Since relocating to Raleigh from Hartford in 1997, the Hurricanes have primarily worn red as their primary color. Before the 2022-2023 season, they switched their alternate black jersey to be the primary home jersey, moving the red jersey to the alternate spot. The team's road jerseys have featured the diagonal "CANES" logo since 2019. This new jersey marks the fifth iteration of Carolina's road jerseys since the team relocated.
The Hurricanes' decision to introduce a new permanent uniform without incorporating the Hartford Whalers logo is notable. The franchise's former namesake and color scheme are popular among NHL fans, and the Hurricanes' Reverse Retro jersey during the 2023-2024 season had raised hopes for a full-time Whalers-themed jersey.
