Wayne Rooney was left "raging" after his wife, Coleen, played a prank on him the night before his first England call-up. Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show podcast, the former Manchester United star recounted the incident, explaining that he fell asleep at Coleen's parents' house, and she decided to paint his toenails while he was unconscious.

Rooney described the nail polish as a "see-through glossy type thing". He didn't realize what had happened until he arrived at England training and was getting a massage from one of the physios. The masseur noticed the painted toenails and pointed it out, leading to Rooney's "fuming" reaction.

This wasn't the only anecdote Rooney shared from his early career. He also recalled a time when he and Coleen were invited to dinner at David and Victoria Beckham's house when they were just teenagers. Frank Lampard and a couple of other players were also present. Rooney recounted feeling like it was a "weird" experience. During a tour of the house, Rooney opened a door and accidentally bumped into Brooklyn Beckham, who started crying. Rooney admitted he thought, "Oh Jesus Christ".

Rooney also shared that despite the Beckhams' glamorous image, a dinner he had with them and Coleen in Madrid involved a much more casual meal of kebabs. He described David and Victoria Beckham as "funny" and "lovely" people.

In other news, back in January 2025, Rooney was involved in another humorous incident when he and Coleen visited the West End musical "Mrs. Doubtfire". Rooney attempted to try on the iconic granny mask used in the show, but his "thick and strong" neck proved to be an obstacle. According to actor Gabriel Vick, who stars in the production, the mask didn't fit, which added to the hilarity of the moment. Coleen Rooney shared her amusement on social media, posting about the enjoyable evening and the many laughs they had. The couple also took a photo with the cast.

In March 2024, another prank involving Rooney surfaced, this time from his England days. Former West Ham and Chelsea striker Carlton Cole revealed that Rooney and Jermain Defoe pranked him by replacing his vitamin supplements with Viagra during an England training camp in 2009. Cole shared the hilarious tale during an interview, adding to the collection of anecdotes surrounding Rooney's playful side.
