Cristiano Ronaldo delivered a masterful performance, scoring twice as Portugal convincingly defeated Armenia 5-0 in a World Cup qualifying match held in Yerevan. The match was particularly poignant as it marked Portugal's first game since the passing of Diogo Jota in July. A minute of silence was observed before kickoff to honor Jota, who earned 49 caps for Portugal, and banners were displayed throughout the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium.

The victory was an emotional tribute to Jota, with several players dedicating their goals to the late teammate. João Félix opened the scoring in the 10th minute, converting a cross. Ronaldo then doubled the lead, capitalizing on a cross from Pedro Neto. João Cancelo further extended Portugal's advantage, celebrating his goal by mimicking Jota's video game celebration.

Ronaldo, at 40 years old, showcased his enduring talent and passion for the game. Shortly after halftime, he scored his second goal with a stunning strike from distance, increasing Portugal's lead to 4-0. Félix later added another goal, completing the scoring for Portugal. Ronaldo's brace increased his international goal count to a staggering 140 goals in 222 appearances. This was also his sixth World Cup qualifying campaign where he has managed to score in each of the 23 seasons he has played for Portugal.

Before the match, Ronaldo was seen comforting a young mascot who was overwhelmed with emotion. This heartwarming moment was captured on video and quickly went viral, highlighting Ronaldo's compassionate side.

Portugal's dominant performance against Armenia marked a strong start to their World Cup qualifying campaign. The team is in a qualifying group that includes Hungary and the Republic of Ireland.
