Andre Onana's Manchester United Future Uncertain: Loan to Trabzonspor a Potential Option for the Goalkeeper.

Andre Onana's future at Manchester United is currently uncertain, with reports suggesting a possible loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor. A verbal agreement has reportedly been reached between Manchester United and Trabzonspor for the loan, and the goalkeeper is open to the move before the Turkish transfer window closes on Friday.

Onana's position at Manchester United has become less secure. He has lost his place to Altay Bayindir this season and has only started in the Carabao Cup match against Grimsby.

Manchester United's recent signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for €21 million has further fueled speculation about Onana's departure. With Lammens, Onana, Bayindir, and Tom Heaton in the squad, head coach Ruben Amorim has four goalkeepers. Initially, Amorim was comfortable with this situation, especially with Onana expected to be absent for up to six weeks in January due to the African Cup of Nations. However, Trabzonspor's interest in the 29-year-old has seemingly changed the club's stance.

The potential loan deal with Trabzonspor is still being finalized, and Onana has the final say. The Athletic reports that the deal includes no loan fee or option to buy. If Onana completes the loan move, Manchester United could be left vulnerable in the goalkeeping department. Bayindir has limited Premier League experience with only seven appearances and has shown error-prone tendencies. The 39-year-old Heaton last played in the league in January 2020, and the 23-year-old Lammens has never played English football.

It has been reported that Onana had a strained relationship with the Manchester United hierarchy after demanding a new deal and improved terms during the summer, after being hit with a 25% wage reduction following United's Champions League failure in the 2023-24 campaign.

Trabzonspor wants Onana to be ready for their match against Fenerbahce on September 14, which coincides with Manchester United's derby against Manchester City. The Turkish transfer window closes on September 12, leaving limited time to complete the deal.
