A familiar face might be looking to rejoin the Edmonton Oilers. Kyle Turris, who played for the Oilers during the 2020-2022 seasons, could be considering a return to the team.

Turris, now 36 years old, initially signed a two-year, $3.3 million contract with the Oilers in October 2020. His tenure with the team saw him take on a different role than he had earlier in his career. After spending years as a scorer on the top lines of previous teams, he transitioned to a fourth-line role with the Oilers. In 23 games during his last season with the team, Turris recorded one goal and two assists.

In August 2022, Turris announced his retirement from the NHL and took a position as a special advisor to the general manager and player development coach with the Coquitlam Express of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). "The Express organization played a key role in my personal and professional growth,” Turris said at the time.

However, after a few years away from the NHL, there are whispers that Turris might be contemplating a comeback. While nothing is confirmed, his experience and previous time with the Oilers could make him an attractive option for the team. The Oilers have seen some changes in their forward depth, with players like Connor Brown, Corey Perry, and Evander Kane departing. Adding a veteran player like Turris could provide valuable experience and leadership to the team.

It remains to be seen whether Turris will officially pursue a return to the Oilers, but the possibility is generating buzz among fans. His previous stint with the team, coupled with his experience and leadership qualities, could make him a valuable asset as the Oilers aim for a Stanley Cup.
