Nuno Espirito Santo has been sacked by Nottingham Forest following a public falling out with owner Evangelos Marinakis. The club is expected to make a statement soon. "Recent circumstances" were cited as a factor in the decision.

The departure comes just three games into the new Premier League season. Last month, Nuno admitted that his relationship with Marinakis had changed, stating they were "not so close" anymore after the arrival of global head of football Edu. He led Forest into the Europa League last season.

Possible replacements being rumored are Ange Postecoglou, Jose Mourinho, and Brendan Rodgers.

Nuno took over from Steve Cooper in December 2023. Ahead of Forest's opening game of the season, Nuno expressed concerns over the summer transfer window, saying that the team had a "major problem" and were "very, very far from where we should be".

During the off-season, as many as 13 players joined the club, including Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich for a record signing of £37.5million.
