India's Asia Cup 2025 campaign got off to a flying start with a dominant nine-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their opening Group A match in Dubai. The match, which took place on Wednesday, saw India chase down a paltry target of 58 in just 4.3 overs, showcasing their batting firepower.

The star of the chase was undoubtedly Abhishek Sharma, who blasted a quickfire 30 off just 16 balls. Sharma's innings was filled with aggressive intent, as he smashed three sixes and two fours, leaving fans and commentators in awe. His fearless approach set the tone for India's rapid chase, earning him accolades as a "fearless cricketer". Sharma started off the innings with a six, becoming the fourth Indian cricketer to achieve this feat in T20Is.

Shubman Gill provided solid support with an unbeaten 20 off 9 balls, including a six and a four. Captain Suryakumar Yadav also contributed with a six, demonstrating the team's aggressive mindset. Junaid Siddique picked up the lone wicket for UAE, dismissing Sharma, but the damage had already been done.

Earlier in the match, India's bowlers had dismantled the UAE batting lineup for a mere 57 in 13.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers, bamboozling the hosts with his mesmerizing spell of 4 wickets for just 7 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award. Shivam Dube also impressed, taking 3 wickets for 4 runs, while Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy chipped in with a wicket each. Only Alishan Sharafu offered some resistance for the UAE, scoring 22 runs. The UAE's total was the lowest score against India in T20Is, surpassing New Zealand's previous low of 66 in 2023.

The victory was comprehensive in every sense, with India completing the match in under two hours. The result underscored the gulf in class between the two sides, as India registered their fastest-ever T20I win. India's dominant performance has set a strong precedent for the rest of the Asia Cup 2025, and fans are eagerly anticipating their next match against Pakistan.

Notably, ahead of the match, Abhishek Sharma had reportedly smashed "25-30 sixes" during a practice session, indicating his excellent form and aggressive intent. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav had also emphasized the team's focus on "aggression" and playing "on the front foot". With a strong batting lineup and a well-rounded bowling attack, India looks well-prepared to compete for the Asia Cup title.
