India commenced their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a dominant nine-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai on Wednesday, September 10. This performance has been interpreted by some as a "subtle message" to Pakistan ahead of their highly anticipated clash.

India's bowlers dismantled the UAE batting lineup, dismissing them for a mere 57 runs in just 13.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav led the charge with an impressive spell of 4 wickets for 7 runs. Shivam Dube also contributed significantly, taking 3 wickets for just 4 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy each chipped in with a wicket. The UAE's Alishan Sharafu was the only batsman to reach double figures, scoring 22 runs.

Chasing a modest target of 58, India completed the victory in a mere 4.3 overs. Abhishek Sharma led the way with a quickfire 30 off 16 balls, while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 20. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav also contributed with 7 runs. This resounding win showcased India's dominance and served as a powerful statement of intent in the Asia Cup. The victory was India's fastest-ever in T20Is. It is also the second-largest victory in T20I history by balls remaining, involving a full-member side.

After the match, Suryakumar Yadav praised Abhishek Sharma's performance, highlighting his importance to the team. When asked about the upcoming match against Pakistan, Suryakumar acknowledged the excitement surrounding the high-stakes encounter. "Everyone is excited for the game against Pakistan," he stated.

Suryakumar Yadav also displayed sportsmanship during the match by withdrawing an appeal against UAE's Junaid Siddique. Siddique was stumped after being distracted by Shivam Dube's towel falling during his run-up. Suryakumar's gesture was appreciated by many and was seen as an example of the spirit of cricket.

The emphatic win against UAE has boosted India's confidence. With a strong batting lineup and a potent bowling attack, India appears well-prepared for the challenges ahead, including the highly anticipated clash against Pakistan on September 14.
