India's Minakshi Hooda has secured the country's fourth medal at the World Boxing Championships 2025 in Liverpool. She defeated England's Alice Pumphrey in the 48kg quarter-finals.

Hooda's dominant performance against Pumphrey, the U19 world champion, secured her spot in the semi-finals. The Indian boxer won by unanimous decision, showcasing impressive reach and tactical boxing. Boxing on the backfoot, Hooda effectively used her long reach to land straight shots, keeping her opponent at bay. With this win, Hooda is guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

She joins Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), Pooja Rani (80kg), and Nupur Sheoran (80+kg) as the other Indian semifinalists, ensuring a strong showing for the nation's women boxers.

Meanwhile, India's men's campaign at the World Boxing Championships 2025 saw Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (50kg) reach the quarter-finals. However, he was defeated by Sanzhar Tashkenbay of Kazakhstan. Abhinash Jamwal (65kg) also exited in the quarter-finals, losing to Lasha Guruli of Georgia.

The World Boxing Championships 2025, held in Liverpool, England, features over 550 boxers from more than 65 nations. This is the inaugural edition of the championships organized by World Boxing, the newly formed global governing body for the sport.
