Graham Potter acknowledged the palpable frustration emanating from West Ham United supporters following their dismal 3-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium. The loss marks another "uncomfortable evening" for the club and its fans.

The match saw West Ham struggle, particularly in the second half, leading to a string of unfortunate events. Pape Matar Sarr scored for Tottenham shortly after the break, adding to West Ham's woes. A straight red card was then issued to Tomáš Souček, further compounding the team's difficulties. Capitalizing on their numerical advantage, Tottenham scored twice more through Lucas Bergvall and Micky van de Ven, sealing a comprehensive victory. This defeat extends West Ham's winless home streak to seven matches, their worst since moving to the London Stadium. The atmosphere became so despondent that many fans left the stadium well before the final whistle.

Potter admitted to understanding the fans' disappointment, acknowledging the scoreline's impact on everyone involved. He pointed to the evenness of the first half, highlighting positive attacks and moments for West Ham. However, he lamented the costly mistake that led to Tottenham's opening goal and the subsequent red card, which shifted the game's momentum decisively.

Despite the defeat, Potter sought to find positives, particularly in the first-half performance. He stressed the need for patience with the team, given the integration of several new signings. West Ham fielded four summer acquisitions, including youngsters El Hadji Malick Diouf and Mateus Fernandes, while Crysencio Summerville made his first start since January. Potter also commended Soungoutou Magassa's performance after coming off the bench.

"The second half went away from us quickly, I thought the first half was good. We showed our attacking intent," Potter told Sky Sports. "There were positives in the first half but we made a mistake in the second half, the second half was really uncomfortable...From our perspective, we have to look at the positives".

The defeat puts Potter under renewed pressure, with West Ham languishing in 18th place in the Premier League. They've lost three of their first four league matches, all by at least three goals. The manner of the defeat, coupled with the earlier 5-1 loss to Chelsea at the same venue, has amplified concerns about the team's direction under Potter.

Speculation about Potter's future is already circulating, with some suggesting potential replacements. Names like Jose Mourinho, Frank Lampard, and Gareth Southgate have been mentioned as possible candidates.
