Fulham manager Marco Silva has lauded teenager Josh King for his impressive response to an early error during their recent 3-1 victory over Brentford at Craven Cottage. The 18-year-old midfielder inadvertently gifted Brentford the lead in the first half, but he recovered admirably, contributing to Fulham's dominant performance.

King's mistake occurred in the 20th minute when his careless pass went straight to the feet of Mikkel Damsgaard, who calmly slotted the ball past Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno. Despite the setback, King's teammates rallied around him, and he displayed remarkable composure and confidence as the team fought back.

Silva was particularly impressed with King's mental fortitude. "It doesn't surprise me," Silva said. "This mistake will make him grow quicker and make him realise it's not always sunshine. Sometimes it will be dark. He impressed me the way he reacted". The manager's comments highlight the importance of learning from mistakes and developing resilience, especially for young players in a high-pressure environment.

Fulham responded strongly after conceding the opening goal. Alex Iwobi equalized, tapping in from close range after the ball deflected off Brentford defender Michael Kayode. Just two minutes later, Harry Wilson scored, curling the ball into the corner after latching onto Iwobi's through-ball, giving Fulham the lead. An own goal by Ethan Pinnock early in the second half further solidified Fulham's advantage and sealed the victory.

Silva emphasized that King's contribution was a key part of the team's win. The manager was happy with the team's overall performance, praising their character and resilience. "We kept ourselves cool and showed character and resilience," said Silva.

The victory showcased Fulham's ability to overcome adversity and maintain their focus even after an early setback. While Brentford initially capitalized on King's mistake, they were ultimately outplayed by a determined Fulham side. The Bees struggled to regain control of the game after Fulham's quickfire goals in the first half.
