Selectors have expressed concerns not only over the quantity of runs but also the manner of his dismissals.

The likely squad for the Test series against the West Indies includes Shubman Gill (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, and K.L. Rahul. With Rishabh Pant still recovering from injury, Dhruv Jurel is expected to take over as the wicketkeeper.
