The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the two-Test series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on October 2, 2025. The series will be a part of the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship.

Shubman Gill will lead the team, and Ravindra Jadeja has been named the vice-captain. The selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, has brought back Devdutt Padikkal and Nitish Kumar Reddy to the squad.

• Ravindra Jadeja as Vice-Captain: Following Rishabh Pant's injury, Ravindra Jadeja has been appointed as the vice-captain of the team.
• Karun Nair Dropped: Karun Nair has been dropped from the squad after an underwhelming series against England. Chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar stated that they expected more from Nair. Nair managed just one half-century in four Tests.
• Inclusion of Devdutt Padikkal and Nitish Kumar Reddy: Devdutt Padikkal and Nitish Kumar Reddy have been included in the squad. Padikkal's inclusion comes after some strong performances in the Duleep Trophy and the India A vs Australia A unofficial test.
• Rishabh Pant Ruled Out: Rishabh Pant is set to miss the Test series as he is still recovering from a fractured foot. Dhruv Jurel will be the primary wicketkeeper, with N. Jagadeesan as the back-up option.
• Jasprit Bumrah's Workload: Despite concerns about workload management, Jasprit Bumrah has been included in the squad. Agarkar clarified that Bumrah is ready and keen to play both Tests.
• No Rest for Bumrah: Jasprit Bumrah has been persisted with in the 15-member squad. "Jasprit Bumrah is ready and keen to play both Tests against the West Indies," chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar said.

Series Schedule:

The first Test will be played in Ahmedabad, followed by the second in New Delhi.

• The West Indies have dropped former captain Kraigg Brathwaite from their squad.
• The selection committee was initially scheduled to announce the squad on Wednesday during India's Asia Cup 2025 Super Four game against Bangladesh but postponed it to Thursday afternoon.

This Test series marks India's first home series in the 2025-2027 World Test Championship cycle.
