The Kitchener Rangers are gearing up for a busy weekend in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), facing off against the Erie Otters and the Owen Sound Attack. Fresh off a 2-0 start to the season, the Rangers are looking to maintain their momentum with a strengthened roster as players return from NHL training camps.
Roster Updates
The Rangers have announced several roster updates as the team welcomes back players from NHL training camps. Matthew Hlacar (Toronto Maple Leafs), Christian Humphreys (Colorado Avalanche), Luca Romano (New York Islanders), Christian Kirsch (San Jose Sharks), Jack Pridham, and Max Dirracolo (Detroit Red Wings) have all rejoined the team. However, Luke Ellinas (Ottawa Senators), Jack Pridham (Chicago Blackhawks), and Cameron Reid (Nashville Predators) are still away at camp.
To accommodate the returning veterans, Alex Forrest, Tommy Kut, and Evan Nicholson have been reassigned to their respective junior teams. Goaltender Mason Hriczov has also been reassigned.
Friday vs. Erie Otters
The Kitchener Rangers will host the Erie Otters at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Friday night. The Rangers are coming off a recent road win against the Otters, extending their winning streak against them to six games. In that game, Matheas Stark scored twice. Kitchener defeated Erie 3-1.
The Erie Otters have filled two positions within their hockey operations department, naming Keegan Reynolds as Assistant Coach and Maegan Briant as the new head athletic trainer. The Otters are looking to improve after the 2024-2025 season, where they were eliminated in the second round by London.
Saturday vs. Owen Sound Attack
The Rangers will then travel to Owen Sound to take on the Attack on Saturday. The Attack are coming off a 3-2 OT win against the London Knights. The Attack are also preparing to face the Barrie Colts.
The Owen Sound Attack have had some recent roster changes. Carter George recently joined from the Los Angeles Kings. Noah Nelson joined from the Brantford Bulldogs, and Noah Roberts came from the Sudbury Wolves.
