Smriti Mandhana Leads Impact Rankings: A Promising Sign for 2025 Women's World Cup in India.

Smriti Mandhana has been recognized as the most impactful player in women's One Day International (ODI) cricket, according to CricViz, a leading cricket data and analytics provider. This recognition comes as the cricket world anticipates the ICC Women's World Cup 2025, which will be held in India.

CricViz's Match Impact model, which assesses player performance on a ball-by-ball basis, has given Mandhana a staggering +861.6 impact score, placing her at the top of the global rankings. England's Nat Sciver-Brunt (+608.3) and South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt (+508.0) follow behind her.

Mandhana’s form has been impressive. Since the 2022 Women's World Cup, she has scored 2,100 runs at an average of 58.3, with a strike rate of nearly a run-a-ball. In 37 matches, she has also achieved 18 scores of fifty or more. Her consistent match-winning performances highlight her importance to India's ODI success.

The CricViz Match Impact system assigns values to players based on their contributions in batting, bowling, and fielding, which are then combined into an overall score. The data indicates that Mandhana is not only a leading batter but also the most influential player in women's cricket globally.

India's ODI performance has also solidified their position as strong contenders for the World Cup. Since the last edition, they have won 25 out of 38 matches, with a win rate of 66%, second only to Australia (87%) and England (68%). Deepti Sharma has been a leading bowler, taking 60 wickets in this cycle, while Jemimah Rodrigues has also secured a spot in the top ten with an impact score of +268.9, showcasing India's growing strength and balance.

Smriti Mandhana has also reclaimed the No. 1 batter position in the ICC rankings. Her recent form includes three half-centuries and two centuries in 12 matches in 2025. A 58-run innings against Australia in New Chandigarh helped her surpass Nat Sciver-Brunt in the ICC's women's ODI batting rankings.

Following her performance in the series against Australia, Mandhana has reached a career-high rating of 818. Other Indian players have also seen their rankings improve, with Deepti Sharma moving up to fifth place in the ICC Women's ODI rankings for bowlers. Kranti Gaud has also moved up 23 spots to 39th.

Meg Lanning of Australia praised Mandhana's impact and consistency, acknowledging her as a world-class player who can deliver match-winning scores. Lanning also noted that Mandhana's threat was a key focus in Australia's planning meetings. Despite a less impressive record in World Cups against Australia, Mandhana has scored 791 runs in 18 innings against them, including three centuries.

As the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 approaches, all eyes will be on Smriti Mandhana and the Indian team as they aim to make a significant impact on home soil.
