Pakistan's Shock: Muneeba's Run-Out Controversy Against India Sparks Umpire Dispute and Fatima Sana's Outburst.

A controversial run-out of Muneeba Ali during Pakistan's innings against India in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 has sparked shock within the Pakistan camp and ignited a fiery reaction from captain Fatima Sana. The incident occurred during the high-pressure match in Colombo on October 5, 2025, adding another layer of tension to the already intense rivalry between the two nations.

The drama unfolded on the final ball of the fourth over. Kranti Gaud bowled a length ball that struck Muneeba on the pads in front of middle and leg, prompting a loud LBW appeal from the Indian team. However, the appeal was turned down. During the appeal process, Muneeba had momentarily stepped out of her crease. An alert Deepti Sharma seized the opportunity and executed a sharp, direct hit at the striker's end.

Initially, the on-field umpire signaled "Not Out," seemingly believing Muneeba had grounded her bat in time. However, India went for the review. Replays showed that Muneeba's bat was in the air when the ball struck the stumps. The third umpire reversed the decision, declaring Muneeba run-out.

The decision triggered immediate and strong reactions. Muneeba Ali appeared unconvinced by the call and lingered near the boundary line. Skipper Fatima Sana engaged in a discussion with the fourth umpire, seeking clarification on the ruling. Reports indicate that Fatima Sana was visibly upset and animated during the exchange.

The dismissal was explained based on Law 30 of the playing conditions, which states that a batter is out of her ground unless some part of their person or bat is grounded behind the popping crease. An exception exists if a batter has made their ground while running or diving and subsequently loses contact; however, this did not apply to Muneeba as she was not running or diving.

The controversial dismissal added to Pakistan's early woes, as they were already facing a challenging chase of 248 runs. Muneeba's wicket was followed by the quick dismissals of Sadaf Shamas and Aliya Riaz, leaving Pakistan struggling at 26/3. Diana Baig was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan Women with the figures of 4/69 in her 10 overs. Richa Ghosh's brisk 35 guided India to a late recovery as they posted 247 against Pakistan. At the halfway stage of their chase, Pakistan were 84/3 after 25 overs, needing 164 more runs to upset India.

The incident has undoubtedly intensified the already fierce rivalry between India and Pakistan. The match was also played under the shadow of the ongoing political tensions between the two countries.
