In a momentous achievement for Indian sports, Valanka Alemao has been appointed to FIFA's Women's Football Development Committee, marking the first time an Indian woman has been named to this committee. The FIFA Council officially made the decision on October 2, 2025. Alemao's term will span from 2025 to 2029.

Since 2007, she has also held the distinction of being the first woman CEO of a top-tier club in the country, Churchill Brothers FC. Additionally, she serves as the chairperson of the AIFF women's committee.

"This honour represents a significant milestone," Alemao stated, following FIFA's announcement of the standing committees.
