The Indian U18 Kabaddi team showcased their dominance at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain with a resounding victory against Pakistan. The match, which lived up to the historical intensity of the India-Pakistan rivalry, saw the Indian boys' team secure an 81-26 win, one of the largest-ever margins of victory in international Kabaddi history.
The Indian team had already displayed strong form in the group stage, with convincing wins against Bangladesh (83-19) and Sri Lanka (89-16). Led by captain Aditya Dahiya, the team executed a "flawless, high-intensity performance" against Pakistan. From the beginning, India implemented a strategy of fast-paced raiding rotations combined with aggressive defensive coordination. Within the first five minutes, India had inflicted two all-outs, quickly gaining a 20-4 lead. Pakistan's attempts to slow the game were continuously thwarted by India's superior agility and tactical precision. By halftime, India had a commanding 43-12 lead, demonstrating near-perfect execution in both raiding and defense.
In the second half, India's bench strength took over, but their dominance remained unwavering. Substitute raider Manav Suryavanshi scored six successive points, while right-corner defender Ritik Saini executed four tackles in a row, highlighting India's depth and discipline. The final score of 81-26 was not just a win but a statement of India's prowess in youth Kabaddi.
Adding to the symbolic weight of the encounter, the Indian team refused to shake hands with the Pakistani team. This gesture, whether pre-meditated or spontaneous, added another layer to the narrative of the match, emphasizing the intense rivalry between the two nations.
Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan had demonstrated their own strength, securing back-to-back victories against Bahrain (87-21) and Thailand (62-57). However, against India, they were unable to replicate that success.
The Indian girls' team also had a successful day, overpowering Iran 59-26. With both the boys' and girls' teams performing exceptionally well, India has almost secured their place in the finals. India's next generation of Kabaddi players has not only dominated the mats in Bahrain but also reaffirmed India's position as a leading force in the sport.
