Liverpool's preparations for their Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt have been disrupted due to a technical issue with their plane, delaying their flight to Germany. The team was scheduled to fly to Frankfurt on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, with head coach Arne Slot and midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai slated to hold a pre-match press conference at Deutsche Bank Park at 7:30 PM local time.
However, the press conference was canceled with just 40 minutes to spare, as the team had not yet departed from Merseyside. Liverpool FC released a statement confirming the cancellation, stating: "Our pre-match press conference for the clash with Eintracht Frankfurt has been cancelled. A delay in the squad's scheduled flight out to Frankfurt, due to technical issues with the aircraft, means the briefing will now not be able to take place".
The team was expected to take off approximately three hours after their initial scheduled departure, ensuring their arrival in Germany before Frankfurt Airport's closure at 11 PM local time. Despite the travel disruptions, the squad held a training session at their Kirkby base earlier in the day.
Adding to Liverpool's concerns, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch was absent from the training session. He sustained an ankle injury during Sunday's defeat to Manchester United but managed to play for 62 minutes before being substituted. Curtis Jones, who replaced Gravenberch in the game against United, is a likely candidate to fill the deep-lying midfield role. He could potentially partner with Szoboszlai, who has been adapting to different positions within the team. The pair could then support an attacking front four.
The Reds are aiming to end a run of four consecutive losses following their recent defeat against Manchester United at Anfield. The delay due to the "technical issue" with the aircraft has undoubtedly impacted the team's pre-match plans.
