Arne Slot trusts Mo Salah's scoring ability despite recent form slump: "I'd back him with my life."

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has voiced his unwavering support for Mohamed Salah, despite the forward's recent dip in form. The Egyptian international has struggled to find the net with his usual consistency, sparking concerns among fans and pundits alike. Salah has only managed three goals this season, with one being a penalty. He was also limited to a 16-minute appearance as a substitute in the Champions League victory against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Slot addressed the situation in a recent press conference, stating, "The last thing I worry about is Mo starting to score goals again". He confidently asserted, "That is what he has done his whole life and that is what I expect him to do in the upcoming weeks and months for our club as well". Slot's firm belief in Salah's ability to rediscover his scoring touch underscores the importance of the forward to Liverpool's ambitions this season.

Salah's recent form has been a subject of debate, with some suggesting that it may be linked to the significant changes within the Liverpool squad. The summer saw an influx of new signings, amounting to £450 million, which has inevitably led to a period of adjustment as players find their connections and understanding with each other. The departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid and subsequent injuries have also forced Slot to experiment with different right-backs, further impacting the team's dynamic. Slot acknowledged these factors, stating, "Quite a few changes in the squad means everyone needs to find new connections". He also added that Salah is no exception to this adjustment period.

Slot also highlighted the fact that Salah is human and is therefore susceptible to missing chances, "In general in football players miss chances and Mo is a human being as well. We are not used to him missing chances, let alone a few in a row, but these things can happen". Slot also said, "It's so difficult for me to say why this is – I could come up with a few reasons, which I'm not sure that is the reason. But I think in general, in football players miss chances, and Mo is a human being as well".

Despite the challenges, Slot remains optimistic that the upcoming match against Brentford could be a turning point for Salah. Brentford has been a favorable opponent for the 33-year-old forward, who has scored six times in seven appearances against them. Slot and Salah will be hoping that a return to familiar hunting grounds can spark a return to form for the Egyptian.

Slot's comments reflect a broader understanding of the dynamics within a football team. He recognizes that form can be cyclical and that even the best players experience periods of difficulty. By publicly backing Salah, Slot is aiming to instill confidence in the player and send a clear message to the team and fans that he believes in Salah's ability to overcome his current struggles.

In addition to his on-field performances, Salah recently caused a stir on social media by deleting all references to Liverpool on his X account after being named as a substitute against Eintracht Frankfurt. He also appeared frustrated after the final whistle.
