Ruben Amorim Defends Tactics, Dismisses Arne Slot's Critique Amidst Liverpool Speculation and Managerial Debates.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has dismissed criticism from Liverpool's head coach, Arne Slot, following United's 2-1 victory at Anfield last Sunday. Slot had described United's tactics as relying on a "low block" and "long balls," after the match, which marked United's first win at Liverpool's home ground since 2016.

Amorim, however, has brushed aside Slot's assessment of his team's performance. "I don't care what Slot is saying, what people are saying about our team," Amorim stated. He insisted on his ability to evaluate his own team, adding, "I can watch the game and say we can do better and we need to do better in the future but sometimes you need to adapt to the game". Amorim emphasized that he doesn't need external opinions to evaluate his team and that he is clear on the areas where they need to improve, particularly in playing better with the ball.

Speaking ahead of United's home game against Brighton, Amorim stated, "Liverpool is in the past, I don't want to comment. That is not important". He highlighted the importance of focusing on the upcoming game and understanding what to expect from Brighton.

Amorim expressed his satisfaction with his team's ability to adapt to different game situations. He acknowledged that while the win against Liverpool was important, he was the first to admit that they need to improve their ball play.

The victory over Liverpool marked the first time Manchester United has won two consecutive Premier League games since Amorim took charge last November. This has sparked hopes that it could be a turning point in his management. Amorim addressed this possibility, stating, "We are always talking about that but that connects with the other question about the way we face competition". He emphasized the importance of putting everything on the field and performing to their best ability.

When questioned about players who maintain the standards expected at the club, Amorim mentioned Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Nous Mazraoui, and Lisandro Martínez. He specifically praised Maguire's importance to the team.

Amorim highlighted the significance of attitude in achieving the recent victories. He emphasized the need for players to force themselves to do the basics, especially when the game gets tougher. He also noted the challenges posed by teams like Brighton, who press high up the pitch, and stressed the importance of being prepared against all opponents.
