Phil Foden Set to Feature in Man City's Bodo/Glimt Game Despite Recent Hand Injury.

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden is surprisingly available for Tuesday's Champions League clash against Bodo/Glimt, despite suffering a broken hand in the recent Manchester derby. The England international sustained the injury during City's 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, leading to his substitution at halftime.

Initially, reports of Foden's injury were denied by manager Pep Guardiola. However, speaking ahead of the Champions League match in Norway, Guardiola confirmed the fracture but assured that Foden would be available for selection. "He has a little bit broken his bones, but he has a protection and he's fine for tomorrow,” Guardiola stated.

Foden's availability is a significant boost for Manchester City, who are already dealing with several key injuries. The team is currently without Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias and John Stones. Guardiola had previously lamented the defensive situation, stating the team was in a difficult situation for a long period without key players. The return of Ruben Dias is expected soon, but there is no timeline for Josko Gvardiol and John Stones.

Adding to City's injury concerns, winger Oscar Bobb was not included in the traveling squad. Guardiola suggested that Bobb had declared himself unfit for the match. Nico Gonzalez is also hoping to return in time for the Bodo/Glimt match.

Despite some concerns about Erling Haaland's recent form, Guardiola has dismissed any need for the Norwegian striker to rest. Haaland will be available to play. Guardiola said that Haaland told him he slept well and is fit.

Manchester City currently sits fourth in the Champions League standings. A win against Bodo/Glimt would significantly strengthen their position and improve their chances of finishing in the top eight, which would allow them to qualify directly for the round of 16. The match against Bodo/Glimt is taking place north of the Arctic Circle.
