PV Sindhu has etched her name in the record books with a blistering smash recorded at the Li-Ning China Masters 2025 in Shenzhen. The Indian badminton star, a two-time Olympic medalist, unleashed a smash clocked at an incredible 394.1 km/hr during the tournament.

Sindhu's performance at the China Masters 2025 has been noteworthy. In the first round, she decisively defeated Denmark's Julie Dawall Jakobsen in straight games, 21-5, 21-10, in just 27 minutes. This victory marked a significant turnaround for Sindhu, who had previously suffered a first-round exit at the Hong Kong Open Super 500 tournament. Overcoming the first hurdle, Sindhu advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the China Masters Super 750 badminton tournament. Sindhu had faced Jakobsen earlier in the year at the Swiss Open, where Jakobsen handed her a defeat.

Continuing her winning streak, Sindhu advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating World No. 6 Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand in the Round of 16. She secured a straight-games victory, winning 21-15, 21-15 in 41 minutes at the Shenzhen Arena. However, her run was halted in the quarter-finals by South Korea's An Se-young, the world No. 1 and Paris 2024 gold medalist. Sindhu lost the match 21-14, 21-13 in 38 minutes. This defeat extended Sindhu's losing streak against An Se-young to eight matches. After the match, Sindhu acknowledged her errors and stated, "I think there were some good rallies, but I was making unforced errors and gave her the lead from the beginning". She also added, "Overall, it was a good experience playing her after a long time. I need to identify what needs improvement from my side and come back stronger".

In other matches, India's Ayush Shetty faced a first-round exit at the hands of sixth-seeded Chou Tien Chen. Despite a close battle, Ayush Shetty lost 19-21, 21-12, 16-21.
