Manchester United Eye Ruben Amorim to Boost Team and Placate Winger Amad Diallo

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has declared that his team wants to secure a victory in their upcoming match against Brentford for Amad Diallo, who is absent due to a family bereavement. The Red Devils are aiming to build on their recent 2-1 victory against Chelsea as they travel to West London for Saturday's Premier League fixture.

Amorim confirmed that Diogo Dalot will be available for the game. However, Noussair Mazraoui is sidelined with a knock, and Casemiro is suspended. Diallo is also absent due to personal reasons. Manchester United posted on X, "Ruben has confirmed Amad will miss Saturday's trip to Brentford due to a bereavement in the family. We're all thinking of you, @AmadDiallo_19".

Amorim stated, "Licha (Lisandro Martinez) is out, Casemiro is out because of the red card. Amad is not here. Someone in his family passed away, so we are giving all the support to Amad. We understood that it was important for him to have his time and to return home". He also noted that Mazraoui will be unavailable until after the international break.

Diallo, who is currently in Manchester, experienced the family loss after facing social media abuse for posing in a photo with former United player Alejandro Garnacho after the Chelsea game. Amorim responded to the abuse by saying, “I say the same thing to my players – shut down social media. It's like that nowadays. It's a price you have to pay". He added, “But the important thing is that the club and his friends is real life for Amad. We are here for him. It's a tough moment and in this kind of moment it's not important the next game. We can win without Amad and we want to win also for Amad”.

Saturday's match will mark Bryan Mbeumo's return to Brentford following his £71 million transfer to Old Trafford.

Amad has been an important part of Amorim's squad, starting in five of United's six matches this season and playing in attacking midfield and as a wing-back. Amorim has granted Diallo compassionate leave. Amorim said, "Amad is not here because someone in his family passed away. We are giving all the support to Amad and understood he needed to return home".

Amorim has urged his team to win for Amad and advised the Ivory Coast attacker to disregard social media and remember who his true friends are.

Earlier in the season, Amorim faced criticism for playing Diallo out of position at right-wing back. Tony Mowbray, former Sunderland boss, who managed Amad during his loan spell with the Black Cats between 2022 and 2023, has raised questions over Amorim's system, suggesting he is wasting the youngster's talent. Mowbray labelled Amad a "genius" and claimed that his true potential can only be realised once he plays in the attack.
