Jets Roster Moves: Barlow, Milic, Salomonsson, and Yager Assigned to Manitoba Moose for Development and Experience.

The Winnipeg Jets have made further cuts to their training camp roster, assigning four of their top prospects to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL). Forwards Colby Barlow and Brayden Yager, defenseman Elias Salomonsson, and goalie Thomas Milic will all be heading to Winnipeg's AHL affiliate. The news comes as the Jets continue to trim their roster in preparation for the upcoming NHL season.

Colby Barlow, drafted 18th overall in 2023, is embarking on his first professional hockey season. The 20-year-old left winger had a strong showing with the Ontario Hockey League's (OHL) Oshawa Generals last season, tallying 32 goals and 29 assists for 61 points in 62 games. He also contributed 14 goals and 19 assists in 21 playoff games during the Generals' run to the finals. Barlow participated in two preseason games with the Jets, scoring one goal.

Thomas Milic, a 2023 fifth-round pick (151st overall), is entering his third professional season. The goaltender played two periods in one preseason game, stopping seven of eight shots. Last season, Milic split time between the Moose and the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals. With the Moose, he posted a 5-12-3 record in 21 games, with a 3.44 goals-against average (GAA) and an .877 save percentage. He found more success in the ECHL, recording an 11-5-2 record, 1.82 GAA, .935 save percentage, and three shutouts. In the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs, he had a 5-3-1 record with a 1.61 GAA and three shutouts.

Elias Salomonsson, a second-round pick (55th overall) in 2022, is beginning his second professional season. In his rookie campaign with the Moose, the Swedish defenseman had five goals and 22 assists for 27 points in 53 games. He was also named a 2025 AHL All-Star and won the team's Best Defenseman and Rookie of the Year awards. Salomonsson played in two preseason games for the Jets, recording one assist, but missed a third game due to illness.

Brayden Yager, drafted 14th overall in 2023 by the Pittsburgh Penguins, also is heading to the Moose.

These moves leave the Jets with 28 healthy players in training camp as of October 1, 2025. The team must finalize its 23-man opening night roster by Monday. The Jets have one remaining pre-season game against the Calgary Flames before their season opener on October 9 against the Dallas Stars. In addition to the Moose assignments, the Jets have placed defenseman Kale Clague and forwards Jaret Anderson-Dolan and Samuel Fagemo on waivers.
