Salah's 250th Goal for Liverpool Secures Victory, Ending Losing Streak Against Aston Villa.

Mohamed Salah etched his name further into Liverpool's history books on Saturday, November 1, 2025, scoring his 250th goal for the club in a crucial 2-0 victory against Aston Villa. The win at Anfield ended Liverpool's four-game losing streak in the Premier League and provided a much-needed boost for the reigning champions.

The Egyptian forward capitalized on a costly error from Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who gifted Salah an open net just before halftime. Martinez's errant pass to Pau Torres was intercepted by Salah, who calmly slotted the ball home for his landmark goal. He becomes only the third player to reach this milestone for Liverpool, joining the ranks of legendary strikers Ian Rush (346 goals) and Roger Hunt (285 goals).

"It's a great feeling to score goals for such a big club, it's something I don't take for granted," Salah said. "I'm so proud and happy about that achievement".

Ryan Gravenberch, returning from injury, added a second goal for Liverpool in the 58th minute, further securing the win. His shot from outside the box took a deflection off Torres, leaving Martinez helpless.

The victory was vital for Liverpool, who had been under pressure after a string of disappointing results. Prior to the match, they had lost four consecutive Premier League games and were eliminated from the EFL Cup by Crystal Palace. The win lifts Liverpool to third in the Premier League table, seven points behind leaders Arsenal.

The match wasn't without its tense moments for the home side. Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers struck the post early in the game, threatening to extend Liverpool's woes. Giorgi Mamardashvili, Liverpool's deputy goalkeeper, also made a crucial save to deny Matty Cash. Hugo Ekitike had a goal disallowed for offside just before Salah's opener.

Salah's 250th goal also saw him equal Wayne Rooney's record for the most goal involvements for a single club in the Premier League. Salah's 276 involvements (188 goals and 88 assists) match Rooney's tally for Manchester United (183 goals and 93 assists). Overall, Salah has 279 Premier League goal involvements, placing him third behind Rooney (311) and Alan Shearer (324).

Liverpool will hope to carry this momentum into their upcoming Champions League match against Real Madrid on November 4. Aston Villa, meanwhile, will look to bounce back in their Europa League fixture against Maccabi Tel Aviv on November 6.
