Nashville Predators End Skid: A Victory Over Calgary Ignites Hope for a Playoff Push

Nashville, TN - The Nashville Predators defeated the Calgary Flames 4-2 on Saturday at Bridgestone Arena, snapping a three-game losing streak. A dominant first period paved the way for the victory, with the Predators scoring three goals in the opening frame.

Michael Bunting led the charge for Nashville, recording a goal and two assists. Matthew Wood contributed a goal and an assist, while Jonathan Marchessault and Filip Forsberg also found the back of the net. Goaltender Juuse Saros made 33 saves to secure the win for the Predators.

The Predators came out strong, scoring three goals in the first period. Bunting opened the scoring at 10:29 of the first period with a wrist shot. Wood followed up just under a minute later at 11:18, with a wrist shot from the right circle. Marchessault then capitalized on a power play at 14:17, extending Nashville's lead to 3-0. Prior to Saturday's game, the Predators had only managed five first-period goals in their previous 12 games.

Calgary attempted to mount a comeback in the third period. Jonathan Huberdeau ended Saros's shutout bid at 4:39, and Joel Farabee narrowed the score to 3-2 with just over eight minutes remaining. However, Forsberg sealed the win for Nashville with an empty-net goal in the final minute.

Dustin Wolf started in goal for the Flames, allowing three goals on 11 shots in the first period. He was replaced by Devin Cooley at the start of the second period, who stopped all 12 shots he faced. Huberdeau and Farabee scored for Calgary. The Flames have now lost their third consecutive game.

With the win, the Predators' record improves to 5-6-2. During their three-game losing streak, the Predators had been averaging only 1.7 goals per game while allowing 3.7 goals per game. The Flames' record falls to 2-9-2. In their last five games, the Flames are 1-2-2, averaging three goals per game while allowing 3.2 goals per game.

The Predators will host the Vancouver Canucks on Monday. The Flames will visit Philadelphia on Sunday.
