Salah and Gravenberch shine as Liverpool overcomes Aston Villa in a dominant Premier League victory.

Liverpool Football Club ended their four-game Premier League losing streak with a 2-0 victory against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday. Goals from Mohamed Salah and Ryan Gravenberch secured the much-needed win for the reigning champions.

The victory lifts Liverpool to third in the Premier League table. Meanwhile, Aston Villa's defeat puts them in the bottom half of the table, ending their own four-match winning streak.

The match began with Aston Villa showing promise, as Morgan Rogers hit the post early on. Liverpool responded, with Dominik Szoboszlai firing a long-range shot wide. Aston Villa continued to press, with Matty Cash forcing a save from Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who pushed the ball onto the post. Liverpool had a chance to break the deadlock when Szoboszlai dispossessed a Villa player, but his shot was saved by Emiliano Martinez.

Liverpool thought they had taken the lead when Hugo Ekitike headed in a cross from Szoboszlai, but the goal was disallowed by VAR for offside. Just before halftime, Mohamed Salah scored his 250th goal for Liverpool after capitalizing on a mistake by Martinez. Martinez's pass to Pau Torres was wayward, allowing Salah to slot the ball into the unguarded net.

In the second half, Liverpool doubled their lead when Ryan Gravenberch, returning from injury, scored with a shot that deflected off Torres. Despite trailing by two goals, Aston Villa struggled to create clear-cut chances, and Liverpool maintained control of the game.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery expressed his disappointment, stating that his team had planned to play the match as they did. He acknowledged Liverpool's reaction to their previous losses and admitted that the mistake leading to the first goal made it difficult for his team.

Liverpool will now face Real Madrid in the Champions League, while Aston Villa will play Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League.
