BCCI Rewards India Women's World Cup Champions and Support Staff with Massive Cash Prize.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a ₹51 crore cash prize for the India Women's Cricket team and its support staff following their victory in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025. The announcement was made shortly after the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side defeated South Africa in the final by 52 runs at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This marks their first-ever World Cup title, overcoming previous heartbreaks in the 2005 and 2017 finals.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the ₹51 crore reward, emphasizing the board's desire to show their appreciation for winning such a competitive tournament. He stated that the win will inspire the next generation of women cricketers and described it as a monumental step for the sport.

The ₹51 crore reward from the BCCI is in addition to the prize money the team will receive from the ICC. The ICC is awarding the winners USD 4.48 million, which is approximately ₹39.78 crore. This means the total prize money for the team exceeds ₹90 crore.

Saikia also acknowledged Jay Shah, Chairman of the ICC, for his role in promoting gender equality in cricket. He noted that Shah had increased the prize money for the ICC Women's World Cup by 300 percent just a month before the tournament.

The Indian team's journey to the World Cup title was marked by outstanding performances. In the final, India batted first and scored 298 runs before dismissing South Africa for 246. Shafali Verma was named Player of the Match for her impressive innings of 87 runs and two wickets. Deepti Sharma was named Player of the Tournament for her stellar all-round performance, with 215 runs and 22 wickets throughout the competition. In the final, she contributed a vital half-century and took 5 wickets. Laura Wolvaardt, the South Africa captain, scored a valiant 101, but her teammates were unable to provide sufficient support.

The BCCI's announcement of the cash prize has been met with widespread praise and celebration. It is seen as a recognition of the team's outstanding achievement and a boost for women's cricket in India. The victory and the subsequent reward are expected to encourage more young girls to take up the sport and pursue their dreams of representing India on the international stage. This win signifies a turning point, promising greater visibility and growth prospects for women's cricket both nationally and internationally.
