Yashasvi Jaiswal's Fifty and Deepak Hooda's Double Century Propel Rajasthan to Dominance in Match.

Jaipur, November 3, 2025 - Deepak Hooda's magnificent double century and Yashasvi Jaiswal's impressive fifty has put Rajasthan in a commanding position against Mumbai in their Ranji Trophy Group D match. At the end of Day 3, Mumbai were trailing by 274 runs after Rajasthan took a massive 363-run first-innings lead.

Mumbai were restricted to 254 in their first innings at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, after which Rajasthan mounted a strong response, reaching 617/6 before declaring. Deepak Hooda's commanding double century off 292 balls was central to Rajasthan's batting performance. He formed a 265-run partnership with Kartik Sharma, who contributed a fluent 139 off 192 deliveries, including 13 boundaries and three sixes.

Hooda, who had reached his century on Day 2, continued his dominance, scoring 248 runs off 335 balls, including 22 fours and two sixes. This was Hooda's second double hundred in first-class cricket, the first being an unbeaten 293 for Baroda against Punjab in 2016.

In an unexpected turn of events, Yashasvi Jaiswal, known for his batting, claimed his maiden first-class wicket by dismissing Hooda. Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur brought Jaiswal into the attack, and the part-time leg-break bowler struck in his third over, ending Hooda's marathon innings. Jaiswal finished with figures of 1-9 off 2.3 overs.

Earlier in the day, Rajasthan's innings was built on a strong start provided by Sachin Yadav and captain Mahipal Lomror. Yadav and Lomror's 96-run partnership for the second wicket set a solid foundation. Despite losing Abhijeet Tomar early, Rajasthan recovered, with Yadav scoring 92 before Hooda took control. Hooda then took the initiative, hitting the Mumbai bowlers all around the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur.

Mumbai's bowling attack, featuring quality bowlers such as Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande, and Shams Mulani, struggled to contain Hooda and stem the flow of runs. Tushar Deshpande managed to take 2 wickets for 67 runs.

In their second innings, Mumbai openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Musheer Khan displayed resilience, reaching 89 without loss at stumps on Day 3. Jaiswal scored a quickfire fifty, ending the day unbeaten on 56 off 56 balls, while Musheer Khan adopted a more cautious approach, scoring 32 off 76 balls.

The first-innings lead has already secured three points for Rajasthan. On the final day, Rajasthan will aim for an outright win, while Mumbai will fight to save the game.

In other Ranji Trophy news, Hanuma Vihari's unbeaten 121 helped Tripura against Bengal, while Anukul Roy's outstanding bowling performance stood out for Jharkhand against Nagaland.
