Cambodia Defeats Hong Kong in Friendly, Gears Up for Crucial Asian Cup Match Against Singapore.

Hong Kong and Cambodia played to an entertaining 1-1 draw at Hong Kong Stadium on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in a friendly match that served as a warm-up for Hong Kong's crucial Asian Cup qualifier against Singapore.

Wong Wai opened the scoring for Hong Kong with a clever finish after 31 minutes, capping off some fine build-up play. However, Cambodia responded quickly, with Krya Saret hitting back to level the score. The match was played in front of 7,480 fans.

Hong Kong, ranked 148th in the world, has a strong record against Cambodia, remaining unbeaten in their 10 previous encounters, with eight wins. The last time these two teams met was in October 2024, where Hong Kong secured a 3-0 victory in a friendly game.

Cambodia, currently ranked 179th in the world, has struggled in 2025, losing all three of their matches. They have lost four games in a row. In those defeats, Cambodia lost by an identical scoreline of 2-1. They lost to Vietnam on March 19, then to Aruba, and then to Tajikistan in June.

Hong Kong's head coach, Ashley Westwood, called up 24 players for this month's matches against Cambodia and Singapore, including key forward Everton Camargo. The Lee Man striker has been in fine form, netting 11 goals in 21 games for his club. Cambodia also called up 24 players for the friendly, including key forward Sieng Chanthea, who has scored eight goals in 43 appearances.

Hong Kong is looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games. After losing four games in a row between July and September, the "Dragons" beat Fiji 8-0 and Bangladesh 4-3 in an Asian Cup qualifier. However, Bangladesh held them to a 1-1 draw a few days later.

The friendly against Cambodia was an opportunity for Westwood to assess his squad and potentially rest key players ahead of the crucial qualifying match against Singapore. Hong Kong will face Singapore at the Kai Tak Stadium next Tuesday. All tickets have been sold out. 42,570 spectators are expected to attend.

The Football Association of Hong Kong, China, has been preparing for the Asian Cup qualifier against Singapore. A win against Singapore would be a major boost for Hong Kong's chances of qualifying for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

The match kicks off at 20:00 UTC+8.
