Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj has officially stepped into the culinary world with the launch of his first restaurant, Joharfa, in Hyderabad. The restaurant opened to the public on June 24, 2025.
Located in Banjara Hills on Road No. 3, a bustling food hub, Joharfa aims to offer a diverse menu featuring Mughlai, Persian, Arabian, and Chinese cuisines, all infused with a Hyderabadi touch. Siraj shared the news on Instagram, inviting people to try the food.
Siraj stated in a press release that Joharfa is very close to his heart. He added that Hyderabad gave him his identity, and this restaurant is his way of giving something back to a place where people can come together, share a meal, and enjoy flavors that feel like home.
The restaurant’s name, Joharfa, holds special significance as it honors Siraj's late father, who played a vital role in shaping his life and career. The interior design blends elegance and warmth, featuring Mughal-style arches, vintage lamps, and classic designs that capture Hyderabad's cultural essence.
Helmed by experienced chefs, Joharfa emphasizes using fresh, high-quality ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. The menu includes Hyderabadi biryani, haleem, and kebabs, alongside fusion options like chicken tikka sliders and mutton-stuffed parathas. Siraj's vision is to provide food that feels like home but surprises with every bite.
The opening drew thousands of food lovers, fans, and celebrities, including cricketers, film stars, and local personalities. Many congratulated Siraj on his new venture.
Siraj’s brother, Mohammed Ismail, co-manages the restaurant. He said they want to serve food that feels like home but surprises with every bite.
With Joharfa, Mohammed Siraj joins other athletes who have ventured into the culinary world, such as Virat Kohli, who owns One8 Commune in Hyderabad.
